Writer Signups - Closed!

Writer signups are now closed. Thank you so much to everyone who signed up!

We are now matching participants to Pokemon and will send out assignment emails before 22 Aug, 20:00PM UTC at the latest. With the number of signups, we are not expecting there to be any initial pinch hits, but keep an eye on this community for updates on which Pokemon need adopting during the writing period.

You can still sign up as a podficcer until 12 September.

Signups Open!

Signups have now closed for writers but remain open for podficcers. Signups for podficcers close at the writing deadline on Friday 12 September.

As our event isn't a traditional AO3 exchange or prompt challenge, signups will take place via Google Forms. Assignments will be sent via email, though final works (fic and podfic) must be posted to our AO3 Collection. If you do not already have an AO3 account and would like one, please contact a mod to request an invite code.

 Signups for Writers - Closed

The signup form is now closed.

 Signups for Podficcers - Open

Click here for the podficcer signup form. It will ask for your email address, AO3 handle, preferred Pokémon to podfic, and how many stories you would like to podfic for this event. Please ensure that the email address you enter is one you regularly check, as your mods will use it to share the stories you've assigned to read and may reach out at any point during the project. The project email address is pokepodproject@gmail.com

Have questions or need assistance? Visit contact a mod for a list of ways to reach out to us, and we'll be happy to help.

PokéPod Project - Gen Two!

We’re stoked to announce that the PokéPod Project is returning for a second round!

This year, there will be 99 Pokémon (all generation two Pokémon minus Unown – see below) included in the anthology. You can see the full list of generation two Pokémon here.

We have decided not to include Unown in the gen two anthology. As they have 28 forms, we will instead run a mini project between this round and Generation Three’s, in which every Unown form will get their own story and podfic! They’ll each have their time to shine.

Changes this year
Beyond basic schedule shifting, we will be capping writer signups at 99. We don’t expect to hit this, as 65 writers took part for gen one, but as we only have 99 Pokémon to assign this year, any writers signing up after that cap would have no Pokémon to write for!

We will announce on our DW and Tumblr if the cap is reached and close the Google Form.

Signups will open tomorrow, and we can’t wait to get started. See you there!

The PokéPod Project – Rules & Schedule

Welcome to The PokéPod Project, a collaborative, multi-medium project that aims to create a fic and podfic about every Pokémon. This is the project’s second round and will focus on the Johto region (Generation Two.) Once this year’s project is complete, a podfic anthology will be created containing all gen two stories in Pokédex order. To view last year’s anthology, click here.

20 Aug: Writer Signups Close
22 Aug: Latest writing assignments go out
12 Sep: Writing Deadline & Podficcer Signups Close

How this works

Writers sign up to create between 1 – 5 stories about a Pokémon from Generation Two. Each story should focus on the individual Pokémon they have been assigned to write about, be between 100 – 1000 words, and be complete and posted to the project’s Gen Two AO3 collection by the deadline. All participating writers must consent to their work being podficced - this means a fellow Pokémon fan will perform a reading of your story and post it as a separate work using AO3's “inspired by” function.

Podficcers sign up to record between 1 – 5 stories written for the PokéPod Project.

Once all stories have been written and podficced, they will be revealed alongside the anthology, unleashing the new works into the world for Pokémon lovers to read and/or listen to!

Please read the rules below in full before signing up, even if you're an event veteran. As this is not a traditional AO3 exchange/challenge, there are parts of the creation process that will differ from what you're used to, from sign-ups to posting.
